I host the British Association of counselling and Psychotherapy and the Complementary Therapy Association networking meetings, which are held in January, April, July and October each year. We encourage members and non members to attend. Therapists can mix and mingle and share best practice, whilst undertaking CPD in the form of presentations, workshops and discussion. We aim to provide space and time for therapists to get their own individual needs met, but also to meet their individual business objectives.

The next event will be held on 25th June (a little earlier than usual) at Oakland House in Old Trafford, Manchester M16 at 10 am - 2pm. The venue, is close to all transport links and is on the doorstep of Lancashire County cricket Club. You can book on line at or contact Elizabeth Farrow for further information.

The main focus of the event will be helping you to develop your practice from a practical perspective, lessen the isolation, discuss what supervision means to you. We will be looking at managing, risk and suicidal ideation and considering top tips that could make a difference to your practice. My new role of Manager of the North West and Ireland provides an opportunity to talk about how I can best support you in your work.

Lunchtime refreshments are provided and there will be various chill out zones designed to enable you to chat to each other away from the larger group. It is advisable to book a place as soon as possible to ensure a place.

Networking etiquette
Prepare your elevator pitch to say who you are, what you do and why you have attended in 30 seconds. Meet as many people as possible and be prepared to ask and answer questions. Don't thrust a business card at someone unless they request one. Make sure that you follow up any conversations afterwards, otherwise you will not make best use of the opportunity.

The Complementary Therapy Association are currently looking for local co-ordinators who would be interested in supporting other therapists in the Greater Manchester area. This role provides an opportunity to get involved in the community at a more local level. During the event we will provide more information.
